Morzine in the winter

skiing in morzine

With over 650km of marked runs, connecting 12 resorts, the Portes du Soleil is one of the most diverse snowsports regions in the world. Gentle greens, long blues, fast reds and challenging blacks are complimented by easily accessible and stunning off-piste areas. The challenge: if you are reasonably decent on snow, then take an early start and tour the entire Portes du Soleil circuit in just one day!

For those of you who want to get airbourne, there are snowparks in nearly every sector, including the Avoriaz Snowzone, which for many years has been a centre of excellence for the freestyle scene in Europe. For flowing hips, jumps and rails then have a look at The Burton Stash which is developing year by year into a new way of building snowparks integrated into the existing terrain of trees and rocks.

There is something for everyone, whatever their standard.

Lift Passes are available for different sectors depending on your ability and how far you want to go.

For good skiers and snowboarders, then it is worth buying the whole area Portes du Soleil pass at €200 per week (adults) €134 (children).

If you are still honing your basic skills then it is probably worth going for Morzine - Les Gets at €141,50 per week (adult) €106,60 (children).

For Ski Hire, we use Gravier Ski Shop, who have a very good selection of well maintained ski and snowboard equipment. You can book your equipment to be delivered or have it fitted at the shop. Either way, you can leave your ski equipment with the shop and change back to comfortable footwear after skiing, then you are free to sample the shops, bars and restaurants in the town centre.
